Are you ready?
Christmas is coming up so fast and I am not prepared for it yet! I am trying to 'downsize' this year and cope with the overbuying issues that I have been plagued with for years. I realize that if I continue to buy as much as I normally do (which none of it is needed since the kids have plenty of toys, etc. already) then I will have a very large pile of little girl things! Since our family grew by two this year, I think this will be the easiest year to downsize without the kids noticing as much. Trouble is that I have this constant sick feeling that I still haven't gotten enough for them! Anyone else find they guilt themselves into spending/buying more than needed to accomodate some inner demon? This isn't what it is supposed to be about anyway! Now add to this mental issue of mine the fact that Sophia's 1st birthday with family is the day following Christmas and I am going to have a panic attack if I continue to think about what all I still need to do! Again... she has no expectations, this is all self-imposed torture. Maybe I'll try to conquer the tree tonight... at least I can check something off of the 'to do' list!

You worry too much, my friend! Whatever you do will be enjoyed and appreciated by everyone...
ReplyDeleteChristy - I do the same exact thing! But this year, I am reminded that "things" are really not important at all. Families like yours helped me see that. I read on several blogs that they give three presents because Jesus received three gifts also. Isn't that a nice thought? Have fun - we put up our tree also!
