A sweet little reminder...

I'm sorry I have posted much since we have been home, but it has been a whirlwind this week. Tim is back at work and Courtney's school schedule keeps her gone. I've started the crazy schedule and I'm exhausted. Up and going with Shelby (15, DS), Sophia (5, DS), Anastasia (5, DS), Abby (4) and Romney (2) is a little chaotic. We drop Shelby at 7:20ish (ok.. maybe 7:30is, but we are trying!). Then back home. On M-W-F we head out again to drop Abby and Romney at preschool at 8:30 and back again to get them at 11:30. Go pick Shelby up at 2:40. Now squeeze in there 3 trips to the pediatricians office (Montgomery, not local), a trip to the Radiology clinic (Montgomery), 2 trips to eye doctor (local), haircuts (local), meeting with school rep for referral meeting (to begin therapy evals) and other regular errands and you have a tired mom. Courtney and my parents have been able to jump in and take/pick up preschoolers when the schedule conflicted. My parents have also kept Abby and Romney for me during the girls appts so that I don't have 4 bouncing off the walls during that time! Thank God for family and support systems! :)

Yesterday we all went out once Tim got home from work and the kids all played on the swingset/slide a good bit. Sophia and Anastasia enjoy the swing set... Anastasia especially enjoys the slide. We took a break after the non-stop sliding marathon to raid the shop for drink boxes (yet another thing the girls greatly appreciate!). Sophia and Anastasia then took turns being driven around in the Barbie Jeep by Abby or riding the Dora tricycle in the shop. From there the little pink playhouse was opened up and plugged in (fan, lights) so the kids all went and played in there for a while. During all of this 'family fun' time, Anastasia needed me to take her in to the restroom. Walking her to the house holding hands, I looked down at her covered in sidewalk chalk, juice box stains and hair a mess. Anastasia looked up with a big smile and bright eyes and it was a sweet little reminder of "Why". Why we started our journey and Why I am so exhausted as I walk her inside. Yes, it is about giving them the opportunity to live, but also about being able to watch them come ALIVE! Thank God for the little reminders God sends us because this tired mom was able to wake up a little bit and enjoy the time with her family a little more! :)

  2. Christy,

Isn't this an amazing adventure? I have to also take a step back now and then to appreciate the enormity of this blessing! Your girls look beautiful, especially in chalkdust and all.....
